sadfemme (web series) — producer

sadfemme is a comedy web series that centers around Madison, a femme genderqueer person, and his self-destructive misadventures as he attempts to gain control of his life after ending a relationship with the man he believes to be his soulmate. It’s a dark comedy that explores millennial life in New York City through the eyes of someone who feels like he’s consistently being kicked when he’s down, and whose bad luck and bad decisions spiral to such low places that you can’t help but laugh.

sadfemme was written and created by Matt Zook and produced by Kimberly Rolfs, and the series’ first three episodes were directed by Molly Watts and photographed by Derek Means. Kimberly has been involved with sadfemme since the beginning, helping to edit early drafts as well as assisting in hiring the director, cinematographer, and editor. She also acted as casting director throughout the casting process. sadfemme raised over $2,600 through an Indiegogo campaign, and the first three episodes were produced in September 2018. sadfemme is currently in post-production, with an additional five episodes written and in need of funding.
